How to remove location data from photos before sharing
Photos from your phone can show where you live. Clean them in your browser in seconds, without uploading them anywhere.
Most phone cameras save hidden information inside every photo: the exact GPS location, the date and time, and the phone model. If you share the original photo, anyone can read this. A photo taken at home can reveal your address.
Juvega Photo Cleaner removes all of that. It runs in your browser: your photos are never uploaded.
Clean your photos
- Open the Photo Cleaner.
- Drag your photos onto the box, or tap it to choose them. You can choose many at once.
- The page shows what it found in each photo, for example Location found.
- Optional: choose a format (JPG, PNG or WebP) and a maximum size if you want smaller files.
- Press Clean photos, then Save each one, or Save all.
The new copies have no location, no date and no camera details. Your original photos are not changed, so delete them yourself if you no longer need them.
Good to know
- Cleaning works by redrawing the picture, so nothing hidden can come along. JPG and WebP are saved at high quality. Choose PNG if you need a perfect copy.
- It also works with iPhone HEIC photos in browsers that can show HEIC images (Safari). In other browsers, save the photo as JPG on the phone first.
- For other kinds of files, such as PDFs and Word documents, see how to remove metadata from photos and files.
- On GrapheneOS, the camera can stop saving location in the first place: in the Camera app settings, turn off Save location.
